“With 20
years experience in this field, I have seen
many early parenting videos – this
is by far the best!
Jayne Herman (Registered Midwife, Antenatal
Educator)
“Funny,
and very practical… it helps a new
dad feel competent and that’s a great
start to have…”
Steve Biddulph (Parenting Author)
"Fabulous
for first time parents. Having the Dad so
involved and hands on is great. Loved the
humour and the infant touch/massage section."
Anne Newton Dip Ed.,AAMT (Aus. Assoc. Massage
Therapists)
Reviewers for the Australian
College of Midwives Inc (ACMI)
who have endorsed
the video, said the following:
“Brilliant! I was
involved in collaborative research a couple
of years ago looking at the “functional
status of after fatherhood” and we
found the literature on the topic to be
very limited, so it is good someone is doing
something about it!”
“The overall content
of the video is very good and easily understood
by men of all ages and ethnic origins. The
humour is appropriate and the pace of the
information was well received.”
“All the important
aspects were covered including sexual relationships
post birth – another neglected topic.
We all enjoyed the humour. I congratulate
Ros for this excellent piece of work”
Overall a really accessible, content
rich, humorous look at parenting new baby
safely
- The male midwife was great
- Wondered about having a little more
with regard to bathing baby?
- Great messages about handling (and
not handling) crying
- Great messages reinforcing help-seeking
behaviour
- Wondered about mentioning pets and
new baby?
- Particularly liked the ‘pram
exam’
I think you have
succeeded with your approach because yours
is a resource that has valuable content
presented in an engaging, non-threatening
manner.

After watching
the DVD not once but twice we found it a
light hearted way to reinforce the basics.
It gives men a great guide to how much of
a contribution they can make. Informative
and brief, as many men have a limited attention
span on these issues. No doubt I will watch
it again before the baby is born and will
probably gain something from it that I may
have over looked
in the first couple of viewings. Thanks
again
